Swissquote Expands Crypto Offering with Avalanche

Swissquote, Switzerland's leading bank in online financial services, has added Solana to its cryptocurrency offering.

Blockchain project Avalanche, spearheaded by Cornell computer science professor Emin Gün Sirer, is the fastest smart contracts platform in the blockchain industry, as measured by time-to-finality. The native token of the Avalanche platform is AVAX, which is used to pay transaction fees and can be staked to secure the network.

Avalanche describes itself as an open, programmable smart contracts platform for decentralized applications. Avalanche is compatible with Solidity, Ethereum's programming language, and can be used to deploy custom private or public blockchains as "subnets".

Swissquote has been regularly expanding its crypto lineup, and the total number of cryptocurrencies available on the platform reached 26. In this month, Swissquote added Polygon to its cryptocurrency offering. In September this year, Swissquote added Solana to its cryptocurrency offering. In July, Swissquote made Polkadot available to trade.

The Swiss is planning to launch its own crypto exchange before the end of the first half of 2022. This new addition is in line with the bank's ambition: to become the leading Swiss provider of digital assets, and to enable more trading in various cryptocurrencies on the platform.
