Swiss Regulator Warns of Newly Circulating Phishing Emails Impersonating FINMA Employees

2024-11-07 BrokersView

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has issued a warning about a growing number of phishing emails from fake FINMA senders currently circulating again.

The senders of these emails are pretending to be FINMA employees. The Swiss financial regulator advised, "FINMA does not send such emails and does not contact private individuals."

Recipients of emails claiming to be from FINMA are urged to carefully verify the sender’s address. FINMA advises against replying to such suspicious emails or following any instructions contained within them. Additionally, recipients should avoid clicking on any links in these emails.

For those in doubt, FINMA provides an official contact email: questions@finma.ch. The regulator's website also offers information and tips regarding identity fraud and the misuse of FINMA’s name. It lists examples of investment fraud, including offers to recoup losses, cloned websites, binary options, and other common scams.

Stay alert and protect yourself from these deceptive phishing attempts.
