Online Investment Scam Alert: Malaysian Trader Loses Over RM250,000

2025-01-17 BrokersView

A 39-year-old online trader in Malaysia has fallen victim to a non-existent investment scheme, losing RM252,004 after being lured by promises of over RM1 million in returns within two months.

The incident began when the woman encountered an investment advertisement on Facebook. Intrigued by the offer, she decided to join the scheme by selecting Package A, which guaranteed a return of RM1.4 million within two months for an initial investment of RM150,000.

To make the investment, the victim borrowed money from friends and made an initial transfer of RM250 on November 12. Over the following two weeks, from November 12 to 24, she made 15 additional transactions, transferring a total of RM252,004 into six different bank accounts.

Despite her investments, the victim has yet to receive any returns and has been repeatedly asked for additional funds for various purposes.

BrokersView consistently cautions against online investment opportunities that promise unrealistic returns. This case highlights the importance of due diligence and skepticism when encountering such offers. Traders are urged to thoroughly research and verify the legitimacy of any investment scheme.
