IC Markets Expands Sport Presence, Sponsoring Six Football Clubs

IC Markets, an Australian-based online retail forex and CFD broker, has has expanded its presence in the sports field and inked sponsorship deals with six German football clubs.

The six clubs are Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha Berlin, FC Augsburg, Arminia Bielefeld, Greuther Fürth and VfL Bochum, all of which are playing in the country's top domestic league, Bundesliga. As per the signed agreement, the broker will receive advertising rights on the LED perimeter of the field, along with logo and IP rights.

"The eye-catching TV presence at the six Bundesliga clubs will contribute a great deal to increase the awareness for IC Markets in Germany as a core market," Hendrik Schiphorst, chief executive of Sportfive Germany said.

Though the latest deal is the broker's first foray into German football, it definitely is not its first time sponsoring sports teams. Earlier in August, the broker signed a deal with the OG Esports team.

Sports sponsorships have turned out to be one of the preferred marketing channels for financial services companies to create brand recognition. For example, IC Markets rival eToro has inked sponsorship deals with 8 clubs in the Italian Serie A for the coming 2021/22 season earlier this month.
